The Prince's Trust logo

The Prince's Trust offers practical solutions to help change young lives. logo was launched in 2001 with the first, and still the only, national database of volunteering opportunities in the UK.

Greenfingers involves families who live in the Mayfield and Grange areas of Farnborough in improving community green spaces and communal areas, developing an allotment to encourage children to learn about self-sufficiency and life cycles, and developing areas for local wildlife. It encourages children to learn about flora, fauna and crops and to cook and eat the produce they harvest.

You don’t need to live locally to get involved and you can be any age. All you need is energy, enthusiasm, and a willingness to get involved.

Greenfingers meets every Saturday from 1.30pm until 3.30pm. There will always be two volunteer co-ordinators to guide the group. All sessions will start at the Prospect Centre. The whole family is very welcome. For more information call or email Jamie Beaton.

Quality coaching can be provided both during and after school hours and all coaches are FA qualified and CRB checked. There is also the chance to offer free holiday course places as rewards to deserving children from your school and educational projects at the EBB Stadium. You can also participate in the Trust’s junior football tournaments.

There are fundraising opportunities such as the Target Challenge, prizes for raffles and tombolas and the offer of a presence at any fete or summer fair.

The Source Young People’s Charity logo

The Source is a youth charity aimed at building relationships with young people, and providing them with support, volunteering opportunities and a safe place to ‘be, belong and become’. They have contact with around 600 young people each year aged between 10 to 25 in Aldershot, North East Hampshire and the Surrey borders. Their projects include a team of detached youth workers; youth work training for young volunteers, aged 16 – 25, to work in the Ketchup club; a mentoring programme to give one to one support to 10 – 18 year olds struggling with life; a training programme for mentors; a teenage parent mentoring service; an anger management programme for those whose aggression is seriously affecting their life; and anger management training for adult professionals or volunteers working with young people.
